Hi there, I’m Heather Smith, and I am a portrait photographer based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Photography, to me, is less about the perfect image and more about how that image makes you feel. Just like the smell of freshly baked cookies might remind you of your grandma, I hope that my pictures will take you back to a season or a moment in your life. Time is so fleeting, let me help freeze a moment you can cherish for years to come. If you’d like to learn more about me, please read on! My specialties include: family photography, senior portraits, lifestyle sessions, headshots, and more.

Welcome to my little corner of the internet!

I am so glad you are here. I've been doing photography since 2009, over a decade! It started as a side gig, something I loved doing but always saw as more of a hobby than a career. I thought my purpose was in education, but I realized that I came alive when I was doing photography. So, here I am, pivoting into this new and exciting venture of making photography my main career.

I grew up right here in Fort Wayne, Indiana, but I spent 13 years in Lafayette, Indiana, between 2004 and 2017 earning two degrees from Purdue University. I have a bachelor's in Human Services and a master's in School Counseling. While I loved working with at-risk youth in the schools and through foster care, art and photography have always been a passion of mine.

Over to the right, you will see my precious family. My husband and I have been together since high school, and we have two beautiful children, Ellia and Gideon. We have also fostered 10 children during our time as foster parents.

All about me.

What to expect when you book with me:

We are going to have fun. I will make corny jokes and do my best to help everyone feel at ease. I will tell you where to put your hands and fix your stray hairs. If you have kids, expect some weird sounds or silly words, anything to make them laugh.

I will do my very best to capture the essence of who you are as an individual, couple, or family. I will help you feel as comfortable as possible in front of the camera, even if you absolutely hate having your picture taken. We will be as adventurous as you’re willing to be to get the perfect shot.

"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything. -Aaron Siskind
